Why Obama Didn’t Go Far Enough To Condemn Palin Attackers
In the face of rather vicious attacks by the left against Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, Barack Obama came out with a strong statement that families should be off-limits in presidential campaigns.
But he failed to go as far as he needed to go, or frankly as far as he should have gone.
The worst perpetrator of the hate directed against Sarah Palin came from the Daily Kos.
Barack Obama was one of the Democrats who boycotted the Fox News Debate but participated in the Daily Kos debate. It is frankly amazing that Democratic candidates for President of the United States would boycott an event hosted by the largest cable news channel in the nation and then attend an event hosted by an organization that rejoiced in the death of Tony Snow in the most graphic, despicable ways imaginable.
Liberals claim that Fox News is biased; but in rejecting the Fox event but agreeing to participate in the Daily Kos event - which is a far left radical hate site (see also its connection to anti-Semitism) - Barack Obama has tied himself to this organization.
By participating in its forum, he helped legitimatize it.
So when the Daily Kos led the shockingly hateful campaign to claim that Sarah Palin was not the mother of her young son Trig, but that rather her daughter Bristol was - and even charged that the father was really Sarah’s pervert incestuous husband and Bristol’s own father Todd Palin - Barack Obama really needed to come out and forcefully condemn this hate group. He did not do so.
The Daily Kos - cowards that they are - purged the article from their site after yesterday’s revelation that Bristol is five months pregnant with a child of her own, making it impossible that she could be the mother of Trig. When caught in a flat-out lie, these purveyors of hate merely scrub the evidence, and then move on to their next lie. A partial transcript of the Daily Kos story is here.
As to Obama’s statement, the Politico had this:
The recently dialed-down Democratic response to Palin’s nomination is an indicator that the Obama campaign is beginning to understand what it’s up against.
At a press availability Monday in Monroe, Mich., Obama strongly distanced himself from personal attacks on Palin.
“I have said before, and I will repeat again: People’s families are off-limits,” Obama said. “And people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know, my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics.”
Obama also firmly insisted that his campaign was not responsible for the proliferation of rumors about Palin’s family in the liberal blogosphere:
“I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us,” he said. “Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like that, they would be fired.”
I don’t believe that the Obama campaign created the malicious hate that permeated the left wing blogs. I don’t know that he wouldn’t stoop to such behavior if he felt he needed to, but he doesn’t need to; outfits like the Daily Kos do it for him.
There does seem to be a recognition by the Obama camp that going after Sarah Palin too aggressively had a deleterious effect on them. It’s one thing to criticize a candidate’s ideas or policies, quite another to venture into negative attack.
As long as he continues to allow the Daily Kos - which he is now and forevermore affiliated with - to launch hate campaigns that advance his political interests, he is part of what they do, whether he asks them to do it or not.
So, as I hear Barack Obama say that familes are off limits, yada yada yada, excuse me, but I just hear a guy saying the politically expedient thing, rather than doing the courageous thing.

Face it: Community organizer Barack Obama lacks testicles, morals, conscience and respect for others.
Of course, Paul, he did not go far enough in his “condemnation” of the Daily Kos, not did he say whatever he said strongly enough.
He cannot.
He needs them and their filth.
He needs them to reach into the sewer called his core.
He needs them to be his surrogate thugs, because he lacks the courage to say anything directly or honestly.
He is an ambomination.
He is a dullard so entrhalled with himself that he cannot perceive that anything he does is offensive or otherwise.
For that, I’m actually glad.
That blindness, that arrogance — and, no, that is no racial code; it’s legitimate observation about this megalomaniac — has already cost him the election.
But he won’t understand that until Election Night, if then.
Kos is a surrogate for the campaign - as are several other venues on the internet and at least MSNBC in the MSM
This is part and parcel of Obama’s modus operandi. He incites his troops to hatred and speaks about peace.
Have a look back at what happened here: a campaign message attacking Palin (for the troops and the press) followed by higher road messages from Obama.
This is the way propaganda works.
Obama’s approach means that he has by now accepted - or should have to accept- the fact that Mrs. Clinton is not going to support him.
Few Republicans seem to have followed the Obama-Clinton campaign. McCain did.
The guy who runs Kos has actually come on board as a Newsweek editor. I guess Newsweek didn’t think it’s trashing of Mother Theresa was sufficiently “trashy.”
I always pray this: God, please don’t give us the leaders we deserve.
Both sides have their “hard core” that operate independently of their candidate.
But libs always seem to go lower and dirtier. For example, I’ve NEVER seen anyone attack Barack - or for that matter Michelle - as a “bad” parent. We didn’t go there. They did.
Barack Obama has two beautiful little girls, and it never once occurred to me to think he wouldn’t do anything for them. I hate a lot of Obama’s ideas - but I never even THOUGHT about attacking him this way.
That said, yeah, there’s all this vile crap going around, and then Obama comes out and “takes the high road” while never mentioning the minions who are doing his work beneath his feet.
You went to the Daily Kos, Barry. It’s part yours. You want to take the “high road”? Call these people what they are.
Obama is the twin of david axelrod. The two of them come from the sewers of Chicago. There is nothing they will not do to smear anyone, anytime or anywhere to get Obama into the whitehouse. The american people will come to know this now until election day, at which time the voters will send Obama back to where he belongs. They smeared hillary relentlessly, but the republicans will not allow those smear merchants to get away with doing it to Palin. Obama is a fraud and a media creation and most people already know that simple truth.
Oh I am so worried. There are so many things Palin just doesn’t bring to the ticket …….
Here is the short list…..
1. A son who lobbies her like Biden’s son did for the Bankruptcy law change that is screwing people who have nothing left.
2. Terrorist friends that that helped her get a start in politics and wish they blew up more of the country like Bill Ayres
3. Criminal friends that helped her buy a house and are on their way to jail like Tony Rezko
4. A pastor that taught her everything she knows about religion, a minister/mentor who is full of racist hate like Rev Wright
5. An angry husband is incapable of counting his blessings that says he is proud of his country for the first time in his adult life.
Oh and the very very worst………
She doesn’t have a penis! It’s only ok to be a successful woman democrat (but not Hillary).
Oh but I bet DailyKos wants her to prove that too!
Peter,
Man, that should just stand as a separate article.
Dude - did you point at a spot in the bleachers before you hit that comment out of the park?
If you give permission, I’ll post it as an article (citing you as author).
