Book Review: Empire of Lies

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

In this post election period, Empire of Lies by Andrew Klavan is an oddly comforting read for those who did not imbibe the Obama Kool-Aid. Empire of Lies conforms to the same logic that likely led to the rejection of the Obama brand, at the very least, a love of dissent over mindlessness. Contemporary politics are cynically described as left pitted against truth, dissent stamped out at every opportunity, the ‘narrative’ being more important than reality, against a backdrop of Islamic fanatics versus Western Culture, perpetrated by an alliance between Islamic militants and radical leftists who have a shared agenda to defeat America. Heady stuff.

Congratulatory Lament

Friday, November 7th, 2008

As American as Mom, Apple Pie and Baseball
A letter to an Obama supporting friend.
My friend,
I hope you are right about Obama and doors for women being unlocked. The misogyny and sexism displayed towards Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin because they were opponents of Obama, while perhaps may have been more a choice of political expedience [...]

The Moneypit

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

If Obama’s bungling of his bloated campaign budget is any indication of what experience he is bringing to the table, would you really want him in charge of the country’s budget? Are the decisions and choices he has made in how he has spent his money indicative of frugal spending in a time of crisis, managed spending over a set period that meets its goals in a sustained manner, and choices on spending that make sense?

Hitchens Gets It So Wrong

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

An irony has to be lurking somewhere that the man who debunked Marxist behavior so thoroughly as to end up supporting Bush is now finding himself at the point where he has debunked religion so thoroughly he is ending up supporting the Marxistly tended Obama.

Revisiting John McCain’s POW Experience

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Watch this just released video of John McCain, POW:

Some background to his capture:
“The date was Oct. 26, 1967. I was on my 23rd mission, flying right over the heart of Hanoi in a dive at about 4,500 feet, when a Russian missile the size of a telephone pole came up-the sky was full of them-and [...]

Sarah Palin on Women’s Equality

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

A great speech supporting women’s equality, Sarah Palin was flanked by gutsy women: Linda Klinge, the Vice-President of the Oregonian Chapter of the National Organization of Women; Shelly Mandell, the President of the Los Angeles chapter of NOW, Prameela Bartholomeusz, a member of the Democratic National Platform, Elaine Lafferty, a former editor-in-chief of Ms Magazine and [...]

More Observations after the Debate

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

John Podhoretz makes a good point about the amount of people who watched the debate vs the amount reading the press - because when reading the pundits I am left thinking the consensus is “Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?”
I saw Obama looking weak, and worried, shifting, the split screen [...]

Keeping your head while others are losing theirs

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

McCain absolutely did the right thing responding to the voter who said that they were scared of an Obama presidency by telling them they should not fear it. McCain believes in democracy. If we were to fear an Obama presidency, that means we are to fear each other. That is not a road we want [...]

Buck up, would ya? Geez

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Coyote’s post debate pep-talk, inspired by a lot of gloomy, handwringing, couldawouldashoulda on the net. McCain is not Palin. Never was, isn’t gonna be. Yeah, it would have been great, but weird, to see him put on the lipstick and heels and tear some strips off of Obama with a wink and smile. But, ya know, [...]

Complaints about Newsweek cover miss the point

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Watching FOX and the complaints about the Newsweek cover miss the point. We like Sarah Palin cause she is real, one of us. You don’t need to touch her up or give us a false image of her for us to like her. It’s not an insult, even though it’s intended as one, to not [...]

Battleground Against Fascism

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Now would anything really be wrong with Obama’s beliefs? The fact that he has to hide them should tell you he knows he is pulling the biggest con running in attempting to become President of the United States. There is nothing wrong with his beliefs as long as he is open about them - it would be an interesting thing to have an open and avowed Marxist as the POTUS actually working FOR America, instead of what we will end up with if Obama becomes President, which is a closet Marxist working as POTUS to bring America down.

Obama’s Marxist Juju

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

The bottom line for the Ayers story is that Obama’s circle are Marxists. That is what his politics are informed by. I don’t want to be red-baiting but I will call a spade a spade. It’s why his tactics are the way they are, the “Truth Squads”, everything. The problem with it is that it [...]

L.A. NOW head endorses PALIN; PUMA report from rally + more

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

A great, first-hand account: PUMAs at the Palin Rally in Carson, California
“We had two different PUMAs approach us due to my shirt. [...] One was a woman who is at this point undecided and reluctant to vote for a Republican the first time in her life. She is working in an environment that is so [...]

Authentic Authenticity

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Sarah, at her best, sounded like the citizen-politician this country’s Founders intended. Mark Steyn with a fun article.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

“Look, the people in my neighborhood, they get it. They get it. They know they’ve been getting the short end of the stick. So walk with me in my neighborhood..”
Mr. Biden’s 6,800-square-foot colonial-style house sits on four lakefront acres that he bought in March 1996 for $350,000.

ACORN: Root & Branch

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Today’s Must Click: Just Say No Deal has a very good illustration of the Obama-ACORN map. Complementing that illustration is Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis at the American Thinker. Pass them on.

The real question is - who else?

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

The real question we should take away from “Obama’s Untruth Squad” shenanigans is how many other media outlets have been successfully intimidated. How many lawyer letters have been sent and quietly complied with? Is the mainstream media running scared - of spurious lawsuits? Does this have anything to do with the media bias we have being seeing in Obama’s favor? Do any freedom of information requests need to be filed to get to the bottom of this? Is the press that willing to give up their first amendment rights?

Can you really grow up to be the President?

Friday, September 26th, 2008

I began to read the text of Sarah Palin’s interview with Katie Couric because of a comment I read on a discussion forum: “And her pathetic attempt to dig at Obama/Biden by saying she never had a passport before last year because she wasn’t one of those kids who graduated from college and travelled around the world thanks to their parents.

The stink of desperation?

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

It’s official: Obama has completely lost the plot. You know your campaign has jumped the shark when you are reduced to ads like this:

Exclusive: Biden media training video

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

After yesterday’s Katie Couric gaffe, his helicopter in a snowstorm tale and his Beretta Dukakis moment, that was the last straw for the Obama campaign and Biden’s foot in mouth disease. Sources tell us he has been sent for an intensive media training refresher course. We have the footage.

New York Times integrity

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I have been shocked and dismayed by what I have been reading in the New York Times in regards to the Presidential campaign. The only thing I can think to say in defense of the Times is that they are not alone in the horrible deterioration of journalistic standards. I know now if I am [...]
