The End Is Near!

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

It really isn’t the big stuff that worries me - - a trillion-dollar budget deficit? I scoff at the triviality. No, it’s the accumulation of little things; the soft signs, as it were. It is like tracking a deer through the woods; you must know what to look for in order to follow the trail. Unfortunately, the signs are not good. Western civilization is in fact doomed.

The Only Wheel In Town

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

An Easterner who finds his way into the saloon of a mining town, having been warned that the roulette wheel is fixed, sidles up to the grizzled miner who is playing the wheel and whispers, “Word is, that wheel is fixed.” The miner replies, “Everyone knows this wheel is fixed. But, Hell’s bells, son, it’s the only wheel in town!” The “bailout wheel” in Washington, D.C., is obviously rigged - - but it looks as if we’re playing the only wheel in town.

Frost Warning: Mother Nature Confronts Politically Correct Science

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

In my vicinity there has been snow on the ground since mid-November, for the first time in this century. Not a lot of snow, mind you, but enough to cover the ground at higher elevations, and we’ve had plenty cold weather since mid-November. If theories of sunspot activity are correct, there’s a lot more snow and cold weather to come.

If Corn Ethanol Is The Answer, What Is The Question?

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

Because we live in the middle of nowhere, we were at the bottom of the list for having the 90% gasoline 10% corn ethanol brew at our local filling stations. This well-intention big-government mandate did eventually find us, however, and because I keep records of car mileage and fuel purchases, I can now affirm that the gas-ethanol mix does reduce fuel mileage.

Obama Citizenship - - Who Decides, and When?

Friday, November 28th, 2008

The question of Barack Obama’s citizenship, and his eligibility to hold the office of President of the United States, has become the election-year issue that will not die. Quite a few Obama opponents have placed their faith in lawsuits challenging Obama’s eligibility, and particularly the Berg lawsuit; but it will turn out that such faith is misplaced.

The Irony Report, Thanksgiving Day 2008

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

We had a great Turkey Day at our house (smoked the big bird on the outdoor charcoal grill with chunks of applewood, cherrywood, and mesquite) and counted many blessings. Not the least of which is the amusement value of current events as the Obama team shucks its left-wing baggage on the road to the White House. Were it not for the seriousness of the endeavor, this would rate as “hilarious.”

Mr. Paulson - - About That Loan Application

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Dear Mr. Paulson: This will acknowledge receipt of your application on behalf of your firm, “United States Treasury,” for credit in the amount of $24,000 from me, and another $24,000 from my wife, and another $24,000 from each of our five children. That comes to $168,000, which is a considerable amount of money for a family to loan. So please forgive me if I ask that you provide some supporting information and documentation.

Republican Virgil Goode To Seek Recount In Virginia

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

The Virginia State Board of Elections has certified Democrat Tom Perriello as the winner in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District election, unseating Republican Virgil Goode. A local newspaper reported today that Goode intends to petition for a recount.

Shark-Jumping In America

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

I have no personal dislike for Barack Obama; I don’t wish him ill fortune. I simply have no faith that the policies he enunciated during his Presidential campaign will produce good things and a great deal of trepidation that they will lead to bad results. The Obama administration will be in a position to set a new record for political shark-jumping in America.

Huckabee Tours To Bring Common Sense Back To America

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Mike Huckabee, the former Baptist preacher and Arkansas Governor who ran a strong campaign last winter for the Republican Presidential nomination, has announced a cross-country bus tour to promote his new book, “Do The Right Thing.” Huckabee’s theme is “Bringing Common Sense Back To America.”

MSM Election Polls Rated Worst Of The Lot

Monday, November 10th, 2008

This will come as no surprise to anyone who followed the Presidential preference polls during the past election: polls done for the mainstream media were among the most inaccurate compared to the actual result. The “top 20″ leaders: Rasmussen and Pew. The “top 20″ loser: . . . surprise! (NOT!) . . . Newsweek!

Onion Skewers Obamabots

Love Note From An Obamabot

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I simply must share this nice note I received this evening from an Obama supporter.  Perhaps also a “voter,” although I suspect he’s not old enough.
From Rick Snay <inoneworld@hotmail.com>:
What’s up, Jay??? How ’bout dat election, huh? Thanks for being such a McCain supporter. It was assholes like you that won this election for us. Enjoy [...]

GOP Rebuild Includes Virginian Eric Cantor

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

The Republican Party has begun the search for new leadership and one of the rising stars is Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor.

Obama’s Big Dilemma

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

The most interesting part of Barack Obama’s victory speech was when he said, “We may not get there in a year, or even in one term . . . ,” thus setting the stage to renege on his baseline campaign promises. Obama faces an immediate dilemma: either abandon his promises of higher taxes and more giveaways, risking a severe loss of adulation, or following through and risking an extended recession or an economic depression.

Obamamerica - - Day Two

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

The deterioration of stock markets everywhere continues - - a rousing vote of no confidence in Obama’s tax-increase plans - - while Obama reaffirms his commitment to bipartisanship by appointing hyperpartisan Democrat Rahm (”F*** the Republicans) Emanuel to be his chief of staff.

Rules for Comments on My Articles

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I routinely delete comments which are left with a phony e-mail address for articles I post on this site.  The rules of the site require that commentors leave a working e-mail address.  Leaving a phony e-mail address is dishonorable.  When I submit comments on other sites, I always leave my real e-mail address (and the [...]

Obamamerica, Day 1

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Expect the markets to drift and/or lurch lower overall due to this growing lack of investor confidence. The risks of an extended recession or even a depression are substantial.

Let The Cr@pshoot Begin!

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

In just over 24 hours, we’ll have a good idea of how right and how wrong the pundits and the pollsters have been in their predictions of the outcome of this Presidential election. Me? I’m for McCain, and I think he can win, but there are so many hard-to-read factors that I’ve had to give them letter designations.

The Hollow Man

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

If there’s one thing we know about Barack Obama, it is his voice, and once again, Obama’s voice betrays him as a fraud. Barack Obama is a hollow man. This is the nature of narcissistic persons, that here is nothing hidden inside - - no reserve of moral fortitude, no wellspring of ethical courage, no strength of character.
